APPARENTLY THE NEW YORK TIMES is trying to grab the Most Incomprehensible Headline award from the Boston Herald. Does anyone outside of a headline writer ever use "dog" as a verb?

MY SPAM SUBJECT LINES have gotten kind of lyrical lately. Selected excerpts from my Junk folder:

Is krishna my utensil
The rowdy in detriment
To mackenzie be postfix
Or is promonitory

Are coltish of cemetery
That the sandman
was to savoy
And of reverend
Of reddish as marseilles
On relinquish of bandwagon

He carolinian he gambia
you twain the collectible
That captain a oceania
Not millionth is militate

He my nocturne

The no usury
so distant
on vanill

It carney of rescind
Go eyelash at banquet
on cerebellu
on heterodo

do progeny by vertices
To moliere to presage
But candlelight it concordant
Go is jacqueline
Really Unbelievable

IT'S BEEN A WHILE since I did a Weird Chocolate update, but let me just say, the Sunflower–Black Bread chocolate was surprisingly good.

D and I made soup last Wednesday, but the recipe didn't yield enough to call the soup tureen into service, which made us (and surely the tureen also) sad. Tonight we'll probably throw everything that didn't make it into the first soup or another meal since then into a motty concoction. At least it makes our blender feel loved. This weekend, perhaps, quality time with the waffle iron.

I had to read that headline... by toxicfur (2.00 / 0) #1 Thu Feb 22, 2007 at 06:14:07 PM EST
at least four times before it even began to look like something other than a spam subject line. Just, wow. I hope Language Log does something with it.

I cooked a cornish game hen last night, and I need to make soup with the leftovers. Plus, I have a frozen chicken carcass with which to make stock. I'm not sure why I'm not motivated to actually do something about it....

I think by Kellnerin (2.00 / 0) #3 Thu Feb 22, 2007 at 10:04:53 PM EST
it'll hold the crown for quite some time. It's a masterpiece of succinct ambiguity. There ought to be the equivalent of the Bulwer-Lytton (or Lyttle Lytton) for this sort of thing.

Soup turned out pretty well, and used up a lot of fresh herbs we had in the house. And plenty went into the tureen to mellow out for tomorrow. Yay.

It's good to see someone making use by muchagecko (2.00 / 0) #2 Thu Feb 22, 2007 at 08:37:28 PM EST
of spam.

Spam seems such a waste...

I'm far from the only one by Kellnerin (4.00 / 1) #4 Thu Feb 22, 2007 at 10:14:29 PM EST
oddly fascinated by spam. Over at Fresh Spam there's art inspired by spam headings (credit to aethucyn for pointing me to that site) and Spamusement goes for more of an overt punchline-cartoon style. Those artists are both being much more creative than me, but I think there's something wonderful about people being spurred by junk emails to produce something, rather than throw their money away. There are other links to the spam-obsessed at Fresh Spam, and I'm sure there are plenty more out there.

I could waste a lot of time at Spamusement. It's easier for me to laugh at the sloppy sketches.

Something about a young Anna Nicole Smith being by johnny (2.00 / 0) #5 Fri Feb 23, 2007 at 08:41:32 AM EST
annoyed by reporter from some Japanese TV station or something like that:

"Asian Lady Bugs Becoming Nuisance in Texas"
... this is dreamworld after all... it isn't? Shit.
